We are very grateful to Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership and the two councils of Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness for awarding us UK Government Rural England Prosperity Funding to help improve the webcam’s power supply and make it more reliable. We hope that through this funding the local community as well as our members will benefit from a more reliable and comprehensive set of webcam pictures, as we have been able to add views of the road and the Moor House research station.

We use solar and wind power for our camera so when conditions are unfavourable, the picture may not update. We use webcams to assess the conditions for snowsports. The webcam captures static pictures of the slope, incidentally including any person in view at the time. These pictures are uploaded automatically to our website. Operators may also look at live images remotely to assess conditions or for security reasons. No recordings are made and images are deleted on a frequent basis. Please contact secretary@yadmoss.co.uk if you require any further information.
